Deerfield Beach, FL, – Polyglass USA, Inc., a leading manufacturer of roofing and waterproofing solutions, and Mapei, a global manufacturer of adhesives, sealants, and chemical products for the building industry, are proud to announce their joint sponsorship of the Festa della Repubbica (Republic Day) celebration organized by The Italian General Consulate in Miami. This event, hosted on May 30th, 2024, celebrated the Italian national holiday observed annually on June 2nd to commemorate the referendum of 1946 when Italians voted to abolish the monarchy in favor of the republic.

With a combined sponsorship, Polyglass and Mapei are honored to support this significant event, marking their first joint participation in this celebration of Italian heritage and pride. 

This event featured speeches by the Italian General Consulate and other distinguished dignitaries. A ceremonial flag-raising accompanied the singing of both the Italian National Anthem and the US National Anthem, fostering a sense of national pride and unity between countries and cultures. Attendees were also treated to live opera music, showcasing Italy’s rich culture and artistic traditions. A reception featured a selection of exquisite Italian cuisine and wines which provided guests with an authentic taste of Italy’s culinary heritage. 

The event offered a valuable opportunity for the Italian community and friends to connect, network, and celebrate together in a festive atmosphere. 

The Festa della Repubblica event is not only a celebration of Italy’s transition to the republic but also a vibrant gathering that highlights the enduring ties between Italy and the Italian community in the southeast Florida area and all over the US. Polyglass and Mapei are delighted to contribute to this event, reflecting their dedication to fostering cultural heritage and community spirit.

GAF, a Standard Industries company and North America’s largest roofing and waterproofing manufacturer, announced plans to build a new shingle plant in Newton, Kansas. With one in four homes in the U.S. protected by a GAF roof, this investment enables GAF to add residential roofing manufacturing capacity to its network close to end markets and enhance best-in-class service to customers nationwide. Drawing on over a century of shingle manufacturing expertise, GAF’s new facility in Newton will create more than 130 high skilled manufacturing jobs spanning management, engineering, and operations. Construction is expected to commence in June 2024, with production anticipated to begin in 2027. The company expects to reach full production capacity by mid 2029.
