Polyglass Celebrates 20 Years of Revolutionary ADESO Technology Transforming the Roofing Industry

Polyglass U.S.A., Inc., a leading manufacturer of roofing and waterproofing solutions, proudly celebrates two decades of innovation and excellence with its groundbreaking ADESOÒ Technology, marking a transformative journey in the roofing industry.

Since its introduction in 2004, Polyglass ADESO Technology has redefined the roofing installation techniques, setting new standards for time efficiency, safety, durability, and versatility throughout the industry. Our ADESO line of membranes and underlayments are a revolutionary system featuring self-adhering modified bitumen technology. It has transformed the way roofs are built and protected with our notable FASTLap® and SEALLap® Ultra technologies, forming a customizable, dual-asphaltic compounds allowing for convenient and cost-efficient installation. Additionally, we provide comprehensive warranty programs to ensure the long-term safeguarding of your projects for years to come.

ADESO has brought significant advantages to the roofing industry, including:

Efficiency – Due to our innovative APP or SBS designs, ADESO self-adhered membranes are incredibly quick, easy, and cost-efficient to install without the need of torches, extra adhesive, or primer.

Safety – Self-adhered membranes are among the safest types of waterproofing systems to install. They do not require the use of open flames like torch-down roofs do. This eliminates the significant risk of fire, and no toxic fumes are produced during the installation process.

Durability – Roofing systems made with self-adhered membranes are extremely durable and can hold up against extreme weather conditions. Even with basic maintenance, self-adhered membranes can last at least 20 to 30 years and are easy to repair should any problems occur.

Versatility – Self-adhered membranes can be augmented with a range of patented features that can fit an array of surfaces, allowing them to adapt to the specific needs of various roofing conditions and building projects. It also allows for a wide variety of surfacing options, providing solution for both low-slope and steep-slope roofing systems.

In celebration of the 20th Anniversary of ADESO, Polyglass is delighted to host a series of events, webinars, and initiatives throughout the year. These activities aim to showcase the impact of our notable technology, celebrate accomplishments, and articulate our goals for the future of building.

Polyglass and Commercial Roofing & Waterproofing of Hawaii Celebrate Best-In-Class Award from ARMA in the 2024 Excellence in Asphalt Roofing Award Program

Polyglass U.S.A., Inc., a leading manufacturer of building envelope and waterproofing solutions, is honored to be a part of the ARMA 2024 Excellence in Asphalt Roofing Awards as the manufacturer on the Kapi’olani Medical Center for Women & Children in Honolulu project, completed by Commercial Roofing & Waterproofing Hawaii, Inc.

The prestigious ARMA Excellence in Asphalt Roofing Award recognizes exceptional asphalt roofing projects across both steep and low slope roofs throughout North America. Over time, the competition has developed into a comprehensive industry event, embracing a diverse array of asphalt roofing systems. Recipients of the award must demonstrate exceptional expertise in asphalt roofing, intricate craftmanship, and the utilization of high-quality products in their respective projects.

Commercial Roofing & Waterproofing Hawaii, Inc. was awarded Best-In-Class, in the Technical Difficulty Category, for their completion of the Kapi’olani Medical Center roofing project. The project posed its own set of challenges, but this particular project presented hurdles that were not only unique but also rigorous. Commercial Roofing & Waterproofing, known for its expertise in handling complex roofing projects, successfully navigated these challenges with a patient and detailed-approach and knew they could count on the quality and durability of the Polyglass suite of solutions.

The medical facility faced persistent leaks, prompting a compressive moisture scan revealing over 50% saturation across the roof system. The complexity increased with more than 70% of the rooftop covered by mechanical equipment, including two large cooling towers requiring regular access. Commercial Roofing & Waterproofing executed the intricate task of tearing off the existing roof system and installing a new Polyglass modified bitumen system, addressing the challenges of working around existing penetrations and equipment.

In addition to the complex roofing instillation, the limited space for mobilization prompted creative staging for material movement. An access point on the ground floor to the 4th floor roof deck of the adjoining building, occupied by newborns, children, and new mothers, required additional insulation, and padding to minimize vibrations and noise. A crane facilitated material loading up to the 4th floor, with subsequent hoisting to the 11th floor.

Due to the intricate work and complexity to complete the project, ARMA awarded Commercial Roofing & Waterproofing Hawaii the 2024 Best-In-Class, Technical Difficulty Category, for their Excellence in Asphalt Roofing Awards Program.

“We are thrilled and honored to be a part of the exceptional team that contributed to the success of the Kapi’olani Medical Center project. Being recognized as the manufacturer in the 2024 ARMA Excellence in Asphalt Roofing Awards is a testament to the innovation, durability, and reliability of Polyglass solutions.” Said Natalino Zanchetta, President & CEO of Polyglass. “This award reinforces our commitment to delivering innovative products that excel in challenging environments. We extend our heartfelt congratulations to Commercial Roofing & Waterproofing Hawaii, Inc. for their outstanding work and look forward to continued collaboration with them on future projects.”

The Polyglass products Commercial Roofing & Waterproofing used in the project:

Elastoflex SA V Plus is built with a high quality reinforced fiberglass mat to ensure strength and excellent dimensional stability, providing a robust membrane that resists natural forces and other factors on the rooftop.

Elastobase V – Elastobase V is a high quality Styrene-Butadiene-Styrene (SBS) modified bitumen roofing membrane reinforced with a high quality fiberglass mat which provides strength and excellent dimensional stability. The proprietary SBS compound offers quality waterproofing and weathering physical properties. Elastobase V is designed for use as a base ply layer in multi-layer low-slope assemblies.

Polyflex G FR – Polyflex G FR is an Atactic Polypropylene (APP) modified bitumen roofing membrane with fire retardant additives, and reinforced with a superior non-woven polyester mat that provides flexibility and dimensional stability as well as excellent tear and puncture resistance. The premium APP compound and durable construction provides long-term weathering performance.

Polyflash 1C – PolyFlash 1C is a one-component, moisture-cure silane modified polyurethane, white flashing compound designed for sealing various roofing and waterproofing details such as walls, curbs, vents, roof drains, pitch pans and unusually shaped penetrations. When combined with PolyBrite Reinforcing Polyester, this product can easily solve typical and challenging flashing needs.

PG 100 – PG 100 is a general purpose penetrating asphalt primer used to promote adhesion prior to the application of hot-mopped, cold-applied, and self-adhesive membrane systems as well as roof cements, mastics, and asphalt-based adhesives.
