Bitec Consolidates Coatings Under the Storm Breaker Brand
Bitec Inc. consolidated its roof coatings lines under the Storm Breaker brand, with the intention of promoting its extensive selection of silicone, SEBS, acrylic, and urethane coatings under the Storm Breaker name. The popular trade name was acquired through the company’s acquisition of the Viking Products Group in 2024. Bitec will continue to promote its two aluminized coatings under the MAC brand and its line of adhesives under the PMA brand. Siplast Opens Research Facility
Siplast, a Standard Industries company, has opened a state-of-the-art research and educational facility in Arkadelphia, Arkansas. The company’s RISE Center — Research, Innovate, Support, and Evolve — specializes in testing its premium roofing and waterproofing products under simulated storm conditions. The 12,500-square-foot facility features best-in-class capabilities and equipment, including an advanced wind pressure testing unit with a 10,000-pound. hoist and a 2-inch/4-inch high-velocity hail cannon. Chemistry, physics, and engineering professionals work together to advance roofing, waterproofing, and building enclosure products and systems. In addition to testing, the RISE Center represents a world-class research and education facility. Visitors receive more than just a plant tour; they get hands-on experience with Siplast products. Participants are immersed in accredited technical presentations and interact with subject matter experts and scientists at the forefront of roofing, waterproofing, and building enclosure technology. With tactile training and live demonstrations, Siplast provides educational opportunities in roofing science and valuable knowledge of the company’s systems.
IKO To Open Facility In Missouri
IKO, a global leader in the manufacturing and supply of residential shingles, commercial roofing, and waterproofing products, is proud to announce plans to open a new granule facility for its subsidiary, Bismarck Granules, in Bismarck, Missouri. The company is investing more than $120 million in the new facility. It will directly supply granules to IKO’s shingle plants across the U.S. The company plans to establish a quarry nearby to support the operation. Bismarck Granules is partnering with New Frontier Materials to secure feedstock to be used as input to the process. Engineering firm Penta is also collaborating with the company on the project. Construction is underway, with plans to open in 2026.
Tremco Rising Stars Program Achieves Nonprofit Status
Tremco Construction Products Group (CPG), a global construction products manufacturer, announced that its Tremco Rising Stars Program has officially transitioned to 501(c)(3) nonprofit status. This pivotal change will enable the Rising Stars Program to significantly expand its reach, enhance its offerings, and secure additional funding to further its mission of empowering underrepresented youth with career opportunities in the construction industry. As part of this transition, Rising Stars will establish a board of directors comprised of both internal leaders and external industry experts to ensure the program remains aligned with its core mission. Founding director David Hutchinson will now serve as executive director of the program, continuing to champion its vision of inspiring a new generation to pursue careers in construction. Two new locations are anticipated to launch soon, one of which will be Brockton, Massachusetts. This expansion builds on the success of existing programs like Achieve Green, a pre-apprenticeship partnership in Boston that has already provided certification and career readiness training to numerous participants interested in sustainable construction.
